It seems that Texas elected officials have been showing up a lot lately on the inter tubes and such. Mostly showing how silly they are and the fact they do not understand science and how it works. The Texas Board of Education has been in the news a lot because of the chairman pushing his 6000 year old earth creationist views on the education requirements for all Texas school children and is trying to push “teach the controversy” of evolution. The chairman has also been quoted as to saying that someone needs to stand up the the science experts. This video also happens to show a House rep from Texas pushing his lack of understanding of science and that he will not listen to the advise of science experts. He has that smug look on his face like he just showed up Dr. Chu. If only he knew just how silly he made himself look. Continental drift is basic science that I remember from grade school. If we did not listen to science experts there would be no phones, xboxes, or space probes that are currently leaving the solar system. Nothing.

Here is a video of a bear rubbing on a tree. Add in some crazy music and you have a pole dancing bear. Silly internet stuff.

Here is a photo collection of a girl that has the same duck lips face in every photo. I also noticed that her head is tilted at almost the same angle in every photo. She must have practiced a lot to be able to snap into that pose at every flash.

This video reminds me of one I saw a while back about white chicks and gang signs.
Here is a three part video of Chris Hanson from NBC News (best known for “To Catch a Predator”) looking at and evaluation a device that should double your gas mileage. And as usual for these “miracle” devices, he shows that this device is in fact bogus and does not live up the claims. He even meets up with the inventor/conman Dennis Lee where he is eventually accused Hanson of being in with “Big Oil”. This video is worth sitting down for 15 min and watching all the way thru.

If they showed us these kind of videos during safety meetings I would definitely pay more attention. The special effects are so bad that are actually quite amusing. Beware this vid is kind of gruesome in the old Freddie Kruger way.

Here are some pics from Ethan and I flying his Ironman kite. It was a little to windy for the kite and we got the five dollar price worth of the kite in about fifteen minutes. The kite looked like it used for months when we were done. The rod that runs along the back to keep the wing spread kept on popping out. The wind would gust and two seconds later the kite would be on the ground.
Despite all that Ethan had a blast flying the kite. Only after a few minutes he had figured out that if he moved the string around the kite would dive around and do tricks. Before I knew it I was diving out of the way of the kite all the while Ethan is laughing his head off.
The last picture is of the flowers Ethan picked out for his mommy today. Nice and springy. The smell is already making my sinuses go crazy.
If the pictures do not display properly you can go see them in my Google Web Albums.
Here is a funny dramatic reading of quotes pulled from fundamentalist christian websites and forums.

Here is a good poster that shows just how ridiculous the classroom can get if the “teach the controversy” wording gets into the Texas education code. Click the link at the bottom of the post to see some more good cartoon/pics.
Thursday nastiness for your pleasure. I usually don’t post this kind of stuff, but I couldn’t resist. I don’t know if it is real or not but it is still gross. Oldie but a goody.
Here is another funny one.
