I think this was in 1999.  It has been so long that I can not remember for sure.  I do know the digital camera we used we had to barrow from our friend was a 3 or 4 mega pixel $500.00 camera.  Now you can buy a 6 mega pixel camera at the pawn shop for $50.00.  We had a great time.  We didn’t gamble to much so we left with most of the money we took.  Oh well, here is the blast from the past.

Here are some pics of the Yankees vs Rangers game we went to last night.  We got out of the house a little late and I forgot to get the camera so I had to use my iPhone camera.  I am using a new image plug-in on this post so if the pictures do not display correctly in RSS aggreigator you might have to view the post on the blog site.  The gallery slide show should look much better than the previous version.

We got to the game a little late, but it didn’t matter since the game was delayed due to a storm in the area and lots of lightening.  The game was supposed to start at 7:05 but after the rain delay the game started at 9:30.  The storm brought in some hail too.  About dime size at the max.  Here is a picture of the storm after it passed over the stadium from the top deck.

Here is a pic of Ethan and the field from the top deck aka “nose bleed section.”  The picture doesn’t do it much justice on just how high it is.

Here is Ethan during the first inning of the game.  Still bright eyed and excited about the game.

And here is Ethan at the top of the 8th inning as we were leaving.  He was so tired by then, but it was after midnight by then due to the rain delay.

Here is some footage of a man who drove through the Wichita City Hall wanting revenge after getting a warning from a cop about his stereo being to loud.  When I first watched the video it looked like the driver almost plowed over people in the hallways.  But if you look closely at the time stamp at the bottom of the screen you’ll notice that almost 15 minutes go by between the people walking in the hallways to when the car plows through.  Don’t get me wrong, he could have hurt somebody really seriously with as fast as he was going, but the way the video was edited it made it look much worse.  The court must have seen this version of video when they decided to sentence him to 10 years in prison.  Must admit the cops in pursuit where in the door right behind him pretty quickly.  Too bad for them he went shooting out the other side of building.

Here is a picture of a funny license plate my wife and I saw during our vacation to Las Vegas years ago.  I found it while browsing through some old vacation pics in picasa.  We saw this car while driving back from the Hover Dam back into town.  I’ll post some more of the good pics from that vacation later when I get some time.

Just wanted to add a cute picture of Ethan taken while waiting outside the movie theater to see the new Star Trek.

The new Star Trek movie was pretty good. Lots of action and they paid pretty good attention to detail on the special effects.  My favorite was seeing the phaser modules on multi-axis gimbals moving around as they fired.  Before you just saw the phaser come out of a spot on the ship with no detail.  With out giving away to much, this movie looks like it will open door on many new Trek movies that can divert from the “classic” Trek universe.

When looking at my blog stats I noticed I am getting hits on the Louis CK clip post about the current generation being spoiled.  When I went to watch the video again I noticed the youtube link is now broken.  I fixed it with a link back to NBC.  I’ll add it to this post to.

Had another earthquake yesterday here in North Texas.  I actually felt this one.  According to the USGS it registered at 3.3.  I was almost asleep when I felt it.  At first I thought my wife had jumped on the bed or someone might have run into the apartment building.  When I got up my wife said that it was a quake, didn’t think to much of it and went back to sleep.  When I woke up in the evening I checked my email and sure enough there was an email from the USGS with the quake details.  I registered with the USGS a while back when we had the first set of quakes and get emails for any quakes over 2.5 in the US.  The epicenter was only about a mile south of my house.  It had a very distinct sound that I will never forget, almost like wood on rough sand paper.  With all the oil and gas drilling they are doing around the DFW airport, I doubt this will be the last one we have.

I’ve fallen and can’t get up!

Hera are a few pics of Ethan at kindergarten early enrollment.  I only got a few because there was so much going on I didn’t have time for more.  I can’t believe it is already time for Ethan to start school.  I think I am going to have a hard time sleeping during the day while Ethan is gone and the house is quiet.  I am sure I will still watch Nickelodeon all day since I am used to falling asleep to it.  It is amazing some of the musical scores you hear on the cartoons when you are not actually watching the cartoon.  The Fairly Odd Parents I think have the best music out of all of them.  It actually sounds like there is a full orchestra doing all the sound effects.

I also signed up for the PTA.  Since I am home on Mondays and Tuesdays I hope I will be able to help out the school with whatever activities they have.
